I am loving the new series of Eating well for less. Trying to keep the food bills down and sticking to a budget is tough. But also keeping meals healthy that whole family can enjoy. When I saw the healthy Pork and Apple Burgers on the new series I knew they would be a hit with my kids so we decided to give them a go.
They are super easy to make and the kids can get involved too.
500g pork mince (I used Waitrose free range less than 8 % fat pork mince )
1 onion finely chopped
2 medium Apples grated finely
2 tablespoons sage leaves finely chopped
1 egg to help combine the mixture
The eating well recipe says use 75 g breadcrumbs but I left this out
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to combine and split the mixture into 4 very large burgers or 6 smaller burgers which I decided to do.
Brown the pork and apple burgers in a frying pan then transfer to a baking tray
Cook in a preheated 190 .C oven for 15 mins until cooked through.
We served the pork and apple burgers on rolls with salad and homemade chips. The kids loved them and I would definitely make them again.
This recipe also says that the Pork and apple burgers can be made into meatballs and served with a tomato sauce and pasta instead something we will definitely try next time.
My kids really like getting in the kitchen and helping this recipe is very child friendly and allows them to get their hands in and help.
