Both myself and my husband had never been to Wagamama before so when we got invited to our local restaurant in Meadowhall, Sheffield we couldn’t wait try it out.
Anyone who know me knows I’m a serious foodie, its a running joke between friends and family that I literally like every food item there is and so I was very keen to try out the Asian restaurant and their new summer menu.
………at Wagamama we believe in the Philosophy of kaizen, kaizen meaning ‘Good Change’
The restaurant has a very simple design and feel to it, with bench style seating throughout the restaurant. The kitchen is also open so you can see the chefs getting to work on all the freshly cooked dishes.
All the dishes at Wagamama are cooked freshly so the dishes are not brought out in any particular order and you just graze on the dishes as they arrive which is great for sharing and trying out new things.
As newbies we did struggle a little with the menu and what we should order.
We decided on the Edamame beans £4.50 with salt and chilli seasoning they were very fresh and tasty, great for nibbling on whilst waiting for the other dishes to arrive.
We also tried the Asian pancakes £5.95 which were equally as tasty.
Moving on to the main dishes, my husband absolutely loves belly pork so he chose the Sticky Pork Belly £11.95 which he said was very tender and the meat just melted in your mouth, this was served with aubergine and sticky rice.
I opted for the Duck Ramen £13.25 which was filled with such fresh and tasty ingredients the flavours were delicious, the bowl consisted of a chicken broth with noodles fresh herbs and spices and the duck sat on the top. The flavours really complimented each other and is a dish I would defiantly order again.
We were pretty stuffed by this point but I managed to push down Banana Katsu £4.95 served with salted caramel ice cream and a Cappuccino £2.25 to finish off the meal nicely.
Overall we had a great evening at Wagamama the food we tried you could tell was freshly cooked and the flavours were amazing. The restaurant however was very busy whilst we were there and the staff did seem a little rushed. It would have been nice to have tried more of the new summer menu which I feel could have been recommended or pointed out to us by our waitress, but overall we did enjoy our evening at Wagamama and all the food we did have we fully enjoyed.
If you like lots of fresh flavours and spices this place could be for you, go give it a try.
Wagamama is located in
54a The Oasis
I will defiantly try Wagamama Sheffield again but maybe on a quieter day.
Until next time
