7 Days to Hygge

Do you want to create the Danish concept of cosiness but not sure how. Here I share how you can incorporate Hygge into your everyday life with these 7 easy steps.

Day 1

Treat yourself to a new candle, hygge wouldn’t be hygge without candle light. No matter what the season I love to burn candles and is a great we to create the feeling of cosiness. If candles arn’t your thing why not try fairy lights or warm toned lamps to create that cosy feeling.

Day 2

Unplug and switch off (yes you did hear correctly) put down your phone, switch off the computer and enjoy the evening without the need for social media. Snuggle up and watch an old film, or even better switch off the TV too and enjoy reading a book, listening to music or you could even talk *who would have thought it hey??* (talk actually talk) ha ha. Try to incorporate more time where you switch off and enjoy the little things in life instead of wasting time scrolling through Facebook or instagram.

Day 3

Bring the outdoors indoors, buy yourself a lovely bunch of flowers or bring plants into your living area and enjoy a little nature your everyday life.

Day 4

Bake a cake, write a gratitude list, paint a picture or start a bullet journal are all ways to get creative in our daily lives. Whatever you do, try to bring a little creativity into your day.

Day 5

Invite a friend or friends over for a nice cuppa and a chat, enjoy a yummy hot chocolate or coffee and sitting and enjoy each others company. Even better, (host a informal dinner party and get everyone together for lots of fun and laughter.

Day 6

Get outdoors and get some fresh air, take a long walk, enjoy a bike ride or go on a nature walk. Enjoy adventuring with friends and family in the outdoors even if it’s doing a little gardening.

Day 7

Sunday is my favourite day of the week, a chance to bring everything together you’ve lean’t from the previous week. Sit back relax and enjoy each others company, snuggle in blankets and catch up on that box set you’ve been meaning to watch, or get outdoors enjoy the fresh air and simply enjoy the cosiness you have created with the people you love.

Until next time

Love these ideas! Good to feel that we do lots of these, especially getting outdoors. Being outdoors makes me feel much calmer and more in the moment. I need to be better at unplugging in the evenings though, trouble is the evenings are when I do most of my blogging. But it’s good to plan screen free time some evenings too! xx
