With the kids back at school a start of a new year we are slowly getting back into some sort of routine it’s time to start meal planning again. Over Christmas we have eaten our body weight in turkey, cheese and drank copious amount of wine, Gin and Baileys well you have to don’t you its Christmas. A relaxed attitude to say the least and the meal planning went out of the window. Beige food has been our friend!! Although it’s very nice it comes at a price and the waist lines have definitely suffered.
Like most women I have been on every diet going. So I thought I’d share here just a few of the ones I have tried
- weight watchers
- slimming world
- Joe wicks The Bodycoach 90 day sss plan
- slim fast
- Tesco diet
- detox diets
- Sugar free diet
- low calorie diets
I have also bought loads and loads of “diet” style books and think I have mentioned before about my cook book addiction and serious love of food.
I have enjoyed some of these diets or ways of eating to some degree and have lost weight on them usually around 7 – 10lb which your probably thinking isn’t a lot but I some how feel better for the 7lb loss ….Ideally I need to lose 1 .5 to 2 stone. Then it all starts to go wrong I get fed up of weighing and measuring food, cutting out of certain food groups and the weight starts to creep back the other way. I recently noticed that each time I lose and regain the weight I am adding an extra few pound or so to my highest weight which makes the process each time so much harder.
But since having the kids it’s not just about me it’s about us all eating well as a family. Not a fad diet where I end up cooking lots of different meals.
We are going on our first cruise in September 2017 for my best friends wedding. We are going on the Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship and is classed as a 5 star ship so it is definitely going to be a holiday of a lifetime and I am really looking forward to planning outfits for it. A few formal nights whilst onboard will mean I have an excuse to buy some extra special evening dresses.
So with the start of a new year its time to get grips with healthy eating and cut the weight for good. I have been sat looking through my endless books for inspiration and come to realise they all have some common ground. It’s not just about losing the weight it’s about fueling your body with the correct nutrients and vitamins etc. Eating fresh fruit and vegetables lean meat and fish and cutting out processed foods. Its not being scared of including healthy fats in your diet.
So I’m doing little research into clean eating at the moment to see if this style of eating (not dieting) is something we can do as a family. No weighing measuring stressing about what we are eating or how many calories are in something but really getting back to basics.
So I’ve sat and planned our meals for the week and wrote my shopping list.
I know it’s cliché but unless you plan you will never succeed so here goes. 2017 is going to be my year to say I can do it and I will get to where I want to be.
I will share my journey along the way and I hope you have enjoyed reading.
Until next time
