It’s time to say good-bye to 2016 and start to look forward to the new year ahead. This year has gone so quickly and I can’t believe it been nearly a whole year since I started my blog. I really enjoy writing my little blog and love how it’s growing and changing as I learn more and more.
But before we welcome 2017 it time celebrate the end of 2016 and my Birthday. Yes my Birthday is New Years Eve and yes it’s always been a weird time of year to celebrate my birthday. I always feel the celebrations of New Years Eve over shadows it but at least everyone is in the party mood right? When I was a little girl it was hard for my mum and dad to plan birthday parties, one because we were on school holidays and two that everyone already had other plans or were away visiting family. Has I’ve got older I’ve embraced the fact that it’s New years eve too and used it to my advantage of a double celebration. Joining in on others parties, hosting house parties or going out with family and friends. Most year’s since having the kids we have stayed in a lot more and got together with other friends who too can’t get a babysitter or prefer to stay in and celebratedo together. Getting the kids in bed and toasting the New year at home.
This year after we decided not to host a New Year party due to people unsure if they could make it, we have decided to do something very different and simply enjoy my Birthday just the four of us. Just me the hubby and kids, no gate crashing of parties, no partying until the early hours. It’s just us enjoying our time to together saying good bye to 2016. But do you know what ? …. I am really looking forward to it.
So its a lazy breakfast, a quiet day relaxing then get our glad rags on and head into Sheffield early evening where the hubby has booked a table at my favourite restaurant Piccolinos. Some yummy food and a couple of proseccos should do the trick. Now the kids are that bit older they love to eat out just as much as us and it’s really nice to share this time with them. After that it’s back home to enjoy the rest of the evening together and celebrate the end of 2016 and welcome 2017. The kids are planning to stay up to see the fireworks over London on TV. I don’t know if the kids will make it to 12 pm, I’m sure they will do their best but we will see.
So here’s to a very different New Years eve.
Enjoy the the rest 2016 and welcome 2017 whatever your doing but most of all spend it with the ones you love and be thankful for what you have, what has been and what is yet to come in 2017.
Let’s hope it’s a good one.
Happy New Year to each and everyone of you.
Until next time
