Sheffield at Christmas ~ Just the two of us.

December 2016 ~ Day 2 of #blogmas

It’s not very often me and the hubby spend a full day together without the kids. So when he told me he’d booked the day off work we decided to do a little Christmas shopping and enjoy the day just the two of us.

We spent most of the morning shopping at meadowhall shopping centre. We got therep early to avoid the ques and managed to get around pretty well. I had  already done most of the Christmas  shopping for family and friends so it was just the kids left to sort. Armed with a list we did well to got most things without too much trouble.

Back to the car and we realised we still had half the day left before we had to pick up the kids from my mum’s so we decided to go into Sheffield and have some lunch ….we wanted to make the most of our day. One of our favourite restaurants is Smoke a great place to eat and if you’ve not been you definitely need to pay it a visit, the food is amazing.

yummy food at Smoke

I love a good cocktail and when I spotted the winter spice on the menu I knew I wanted to try one of those. A stomach full of yummy food and we headed into Sheffield to walk off our lunch.

We stopped off at the Thor tipi. It’s a bar  area that has been set up for the Christmas period, I love places like this. It had a fire pit in the centre of the tipi with benches all round where people sat and chatted listening  to music. There was a real mixture of people in there from lady shoppers with piles of bags resting their tired legs, students, couples and even families with the little ones enjoying a hot chocolate. We managed to grab a bench right next to the fire pit, we enjoyed the cosiness of the fire while we sipped our mulled wine with cherry brandy it was delicious.

A lovely day spent together, we really enjoyed it and are both now feeling super Christmassy.

There are lots of great things to see and do in and around Sheffield this Christmas. Take a look at the Local guide for more information and places to visit.

Until next time
