So today we went Elephant hunting…..
If you are wondering what I’m going on about,
I’ll explain ….Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity have joined up with Wild in Art to create a trail of sculptured Elephants around the city. They have named it Herd of Sheffield.
It really has been a community effort as businesses, schools and local artists have joined together to design the Elephants.
Each Elephant has been designed differently and is unique in style. They all reflect the local areas music, fashion, heritage, history and attractions of Sheffield city. There is also a smaller Herd of little Elephants in different areas which have been designed and painted by schools from the surrounding area. We visited the little Herd in the Winter Gardens. I’ve got to say they are very cute and the kids have done a great job.
We have had a great day running round I enjoyed it just as much as the kids. Searching taking pictures and scanning the codes to unlock different awards as you go.
We started off at the Sheffield train station and made our way round town. Stopping off for coffee and refeshments on route.
The kids caught their eye on Sheffield by the sea which is also a great local attraction running until the end of the month in the Peace gardens. Helter-skelter, man made beach, hook a duck and other seaside like activities.
They both really enjoyed the helter-skelter and I can remember loving it just has much when I was little.
We didn’t find all the Elephants as there dotted all around Sheffield in parks and Shopping centres but will definitely be out hunting again before the trail finishes.
The trail is on until 5th October then the large Elephants will be auctioned off to raise money for the Charity.
