A Day in Villafranche-sur-Mer (Near Nice) Our Mediterranean Cruise Part 2

I’m sharing our adventures of our Mediterranean cruise from this Summer. We have visted so many beautiful place’s and I’m loving sharing our adventures with. If you didn’t see our first post of our time in Gibraltar you can read it here

Our next Port of call was Villafranche-sur-Mer in the French Riviera, an area we have never been to before and was keen to visit. The cruise docked at the beautiful Villafranche-sur-Mer and we caught a tender into the town where many simply use this as a base to begin guided tours of the surrounding area of the French Riviera like Monaco, Nice, or even Cannes.

We had originally planned to catch the bus into Nice which was only a short journey away but the kids were pretty tired from a very late night celebrating our Friends wedding day so we decided to explore the Villafranche-sur-Mer area instead.

Villafranche is such a beautiful little fishing village, with cobbled streets and little terrace cafes on every corner it was definitely not a disappointment from our original plan.

We mooched around the town for quite a while taking the sights and sounds of the area with pastel coloured buildings, climbing up and down the many paths and stairs of the little cobbled streets.

We loved the alfresco feel to the area where locals and many tourists sat in the Sun sipping wine, people watching whilst enjoying fresh oysters and many other local seafood. I never expected this tiny fishing village full of many cruise passengers to have so much character and local charm.

There was surprises around every corner from locals out doing their shopping and hanging washing across the buildings to pastel shutters on every doorway ( I have a thing for beautiful doorways) It really was a wonderful surprise and a day we really enjoyed. The kids managed to even have a paddle in the Sea and enjoy an ice cream in one of the many Les Glaciers shops

We would love to return and explore the area some more and is a great base for visiting this beautiful area of France.

Here’s a few pictures from our day exploring

Until next time
